Before your Power of Attorney (POA) can be issued with an apostille, it must be correctly certified. Your power of attorney or affidavit must first be signed ‘in the presence’ of a UK notary public or a solicitor. The solicitor or notary will watch you (witness) you sign the document. This should be done ‘in person’ at a solicitor’s or notary’s office. Please ensure the notary public or solicitor has confirmed their signature to the FCDO.

They must add their signature, their name, the date the POA was signed and a statement –

  • Signed in my presence
  • Witnessed by
  • Signed before me

When you have the document signed and witnessed, we can provide the paper apostille for your ink signed POA. You can order your apostille on the apostille service page.
